  • Am I wrong for kicking my son’s girlfriend out?

My son is 17 and he is lazy. He used Al to get through High school early. He won't get a job except door dash. Less than 200 dollars a week. I have to ride him to get ANY chores done. I take away his phone, turn off the internet. I talk to him all the time. Let him knows he's loved. It's hard, but we make do.
  • His gf is 18. No job. No school does maybe 1 chore a week. Rides along while he dashes. It's her account since she's 18. But the best she can do is sit in the passenger seat. She contributes nothing to the house. No food. Only eats what I purchase and says we have gross food. Never eats what I cook.

  • The dad had reached his breaking point.

I have just told her she can't live here anymore. My son spends 4 days a week with me. 3 with his mom. I gave them 2 month notice. No job. No school. No chores. No living in my house. I gave the a one month and a 2 week warning. Then texted debit 2 weeks. And today I had to tell them. Holy Moses they are ped. They started the manipulation

  • hard. Deep into what a POS I am for doing this. They don't want to live with his mom. They say she's awful. I stuck to my boundaries. AIO?

Several_Leather_9500 NOR. Your child needs to learn consequences, and this is a good first step.

  • GardenHobbit NOR. If you don't hold your ground now it's going to be your 37-year- old son and his 38-year-old girlfriend living with you before you know it.

  • He had been nicer than many parents.

meughh NOR - You've definetly given your son way more lenience than most parents would, same with his girlfriend. Honestly I don't even know how she has the audacity to act that way in YOUR house when YOUVE given her the grace of living there.

  • I feel bad when I don't do chores, help/contribute to the house!! And I've been living with my boyfriends family for almost a year!

  • Tinkerbelly313 NOR. His mom probably has similar boundaries. They're just trying to wear you down. Hold strong. He needs to grow up and drop the de d weight, in whatever order that takes.

  • People questioned why the girlfriend was there.

Careless-Ability-748 nor but why is she living with you to begin with?

  • Spare_Special_3617 NOR, time to lay down stern rules for the boy to motivate him, if you pay his phone, stop, if you pay car ins. stop, don't enable him to be lazy.

  • crafty271 I'm glad you stuck with your terms. Your son needs to grow up and be accountable for his actions. Let him learn what it's like to pay rent...stick to your decision

  • The couple needed to learn some hard lessons.

bellegroves NOR How does one use Al to finish school early without outright cheating? That tracks with both their behavior now. More consequences, less computer/phone time for them both.

  • User_-_-_Name Man you created a monster and then let him move his girlfriend into the house? YOR because I feel like you kinda did this to yourself.

  • ReaderGirl-K-la NTA better late than never to give your son and gf the kick in the bot they clearly need

  • The dad needed to take decisive action.

SeaworthinessOne 1752 Of course NOR. If anything underreacting. No 17 year old minor would be allowed to have a bf/gf live with me. You were just enabling his and her laziness and selfishness. They sound like PSOS to me.
